Hi, does anyone know the difference between a wastegate and a normal dumpvalve? I bought my engine and it came with bailey dv but dont know what it sounds like? Can it be adjusted to make different noises? How does a wastegate work as opposed to a dump valve?

A wastegate has nothing to do with a dumpvalve mate.

The first vid I'd rather have the V8 that rumbles past when he does the U turn, the second vid makes me glad I don't drive and escort or anything remotely similar and the third vid the guy might find it will go faster if he adds maybe one more gauge to the 3 and a half million he already has! The sound from vid no:2 is like pot_dan says it´s when you don´t use a dv the car make that sound. The sound is from when the pressure in the plenum has no way to go and force the turbin to stop rapidly, not very god for the turbo though. |

Every modern "normal" turbo car today has a dv fitted. But it´s a recirculating dv and it makes no sound because the pressure goes back into the system. The dv's you are talking about is the open type that releses the overpressure out in to the atmhosphere and makes a "turbo" sound. |
