I have done a rough drawing of the Ford (EDIS) crank sensor for a friend of mine, thought it may be useful to some people so here it is.

Only in JPEG format but can email AutoCAD 2000/2004 .dwg if reqd.

Dave it started out as an exercise to learn CAD (Solidworks 2005) but i find it kind of therapeutic.
You can't beat a can of Boddys in the evening and a crack at drawing another part.

What comes of it when I'm finished I'm not sure yet but it would make a good 3D parts manual.

After seeing your drawing yesterday afternoon I had a crack at learning how to use the 3-D bits of AutoCAD, in actual fact I didn't find it that hard, takes a bit more getting your head round but otherwise OK.
I got a solid model somewhere like fairly quickly, its just the fiddly bits I struggled with, but will have another crack at it, as you say quite satisfying and a good way to learn how to use it.

If you can do 2d... its only a small step to 3d.

Smaller than learning 2d cad in the 1st place :)

um, while on the subject, has anyone draw'n the actual timeing wheel itself, i know how to use autocad and i hav a cnc mill at my dad's factory, i just cant get a hold of any dimentions for the timeing wheel (diameter of the wheel, length of the teeth, width of the teeth, size of the gap near the missing tooth ect.)

if anyone has done it already or could do it i think us Australians would find it helpfull seem's we dont get ford esscorts.

The only info you need to know is that you need 36 teeth, with one missing. On the wheel I have had machined I have made the teeth and the gap the same size, apart from that it can be pretty much whatever size you want, you will soon know if it works or not when you spin it up with a sensor looking at it.

Does anyone have a recommendation to where I can get my crank pulley/damper milled with the 32 trigger notches for the sensor?

teeth and gaps do not have to be the same size. long as all the teeth are the same size, and gaps the same size your alright. and you want (ideally ) 36 "teeth" includign the "missing tooth" hence the notation 36 "minus" 1 (36-1) as 36-1 is generally used for the ford edis stuff, incase you go down this route. it also makes workign out trigger angles easier in your head :)

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
