how are these put in, can it be done at home or is it a machine shop job

Can be done at home, they pop in with a bit of help from a hammer and a touch of sealant.

arnt they meant to pop in , they have a flexing bit in the middle that pushes the rim into the block dont they or are they old types "Can I legally marry people now that I am ordained in the Church of the SubGenius?" aka i know jack sh"t

appropriate size socket helps to ge them into position. Make sure the hole is clean before inserting them or they will leak. I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

just done mine, i was told by a local engine builder to use lock tite rather than hred hermatite, cleaner and stronger i used a socket as mentioned then tap em in

i had one fall out when i was erm really trying in my old 1 litre, lol it was an A-series tho there bigger, couldent get hold of a new one, ended up getting a local engineering place to make one and i just tapped it in with a hammer, and it held for ever after.
