A centre main strap bolts on top of the centre main bearing housing to help make it more rigid. It is a good idea really on any performance build engine, moreso as it is a cheap modification to perform.

Do the centre main strap - they are dirt cheap to buy and the machining of the centre cap is very strait forward. The machine shop will certainly not charge much for it.

juffer as stated i would get it done, i have done on all of my performance engines,.....that and arp rod bolts....the reason it is done is under load (or high revs) the crank flex`s and you end up blowing big end shells or if you are unlucky like me you send an end cap through your gearbox / block / radiator / aldon dizzy / get the picture :) cheap mod that can save you a bomb
