would it do the same job if i left the standard metro turbo cam in and put 1.5:1 or 1.7:1 rocker in, compared to putting a phase 2 cam in and left the 1.3:1 standard rockers.
If in Doubt, go flat out !!! |

the phase 3 is a touch to radical and power losses of 30 hp have been seen on some high boost engines.

I've tried 1.5 rockers on a standard cam, 1.5 rockers on a P2 and 1.5 rockers on a P3.

avonbar recomend with the phase 2 two use 1:3 ratio rockers... imho i would save and get full roller rockers, as apposed to the roller tip as they are stronger and the bushes are replaced with bearings

Yes funny enough i did think about getting some 1.7 rockers, but the wear on mine now is bad enough so that put me off. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

The wear on your what? valve guides wear more due to increased speed in which the valve opens and closes that the higher ratio rockers give |

MFT, the problem with full RR is that if a bearing fails then it changes drastically, if a normal plain bearing fails then it goes gradually over time and easier to correct...

This is not a mechanical fault, it's a builder/user fault.. If you change the rockers form 1,3 to 1,5, you need to lessen the valve spring pressure, If not, you might experience excessive wear. Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |

Odd, I have 310 scatter cam and I shimmed springs to up the pressure. This is why I run x-drilled billet cams. Only worn out 1 in 6 years which was a 296 Kent, their hardening aint as good as Piper so they made my 310
I seriously doubt it! |

iain here what u r saying mate, but my scource was saying that the gradual wear puts offset loads onto the valves... with full roller rockers the load is distributed properly therefore the load is evenly placed on the main bearings with extends life of the bearing....i take your point on board, but i have seen half roller tip failures, but am yet to see a full roller rocker setup failure....touch wood....all engines have been full race and not road use. so have been super abused each to mtheir own, but i will be using full roller rockers
