Just a quick question, whats the best gas to use with a mig welder? CO2, Argon or co2/argon mix?

if your getting the small bottles get the ones from machine mart with twice as much gass in them. for some reason they last ~6 times longer and are only a few quid dearer. when i was doin alot of welding i weas goin thro 3 of the regular bottles a day, but the machine mart ones were lasting 1 bottle for 2 days !! turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

argon or argon co2 will give you a better weld and it seems easier to weld with. no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Pure co2 lasts alot longer but if you want a nice weld and/or better penatration on thicker materials I'd use the argon/co2 mix. Pure argon is for TIG welding. Its only a bit of metal. If it blows it blows!

i use a hooky boc bootle of co2 personally, most people i know use argoshield light (co2/argon mix) but they need a different reg aparently, so i havent swapped over yet.
And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers! |

Argoshield TC is best. Its a mix of CO2 and Argon. Its an inert gas and is why mig is called mig (Metal Inert Gas) CO2 alone is active gas and the welding process is therefore called mag (Metal Active Gas). There you go what a load of bollocks
I seriously doubt it! |
