Why isn't the verto flywheel up to the job. i have a verto clutch (short arm) so im guessing that i have a verto flywheel. i hope to be running about 130 -140 bhp. i saw a flywheel on ebay that was lighjtened and i was just wondering how much does a standard flywheel weigh.

If in Doubt, go flat out !!!

It is not the verto flywheel, but the clutch itself that is not up to the job, put simply, it will not take the torque produced by the turbo motors.

Benross has tried a supposedly uprated verto clutch on his car and has problems with it slipping in higher gears.

jufferb, i may have jumped the gun a touch!

as i did not want you to fall into the same trap as me & others

by going down this route

the pre vertro can be lightend a lot more than the vertro flywheel

guys, what im trying to do is lighten the flywheel and put a grey diaphram and ap race and rally clutch in. but in this thread you are saying that a verto clutch is no good for massive power and torque. so what do i need to change to make my clutch work without slipping and only lasting one day.im trying to get about 130bhp.

If in Doubt, go flat out !!!

The 'grey diaphram' is only usable on pre-vero flyweels. eg:

whereas you have a 'verto' flywheel. eg:

The 'grey' is the triangular shaped thing in the top pictue. It doesn't feature on verto units.
