just guessing but the lead sounds like a network connection?? bit like the phone connection but slightly bigger?

i think some pics or model numbers/makes are needed along with what equipment you are replacing is needed to give accurate usefull help. I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

Your going to need an Ethernet card in your PC if you don't already have one.

thanks men , doodmieater is showing the socket that i dod not have on the back of my pc, it about 5 years old now , how do i gat one of these fitted or is there a way around this, the socket you are showing is like the lead i got to connect my wireless thing to my npc ,this must be the earthnet lead then,?

you can either get something like this and run it wirelessly (but will requiring openoing up the computer, but its quite easy)
