I just spent the evening pricing out a load of parts for my rebuild. Decided in the end that buying from UK was the best way to go and ordered some of the parts from Minispares and some from Minisport. The shipping from minisport to USA was quite pricey, at 100 quid so sent them to my brother for pickup on my next flying visit, though to be fair these parts were chunkier than the other order (disks, shocks etc). I was surprised (again) by how reasonable minispares are on shipping to USA and my 200 quid order of small light parts only came out at 40 quid shipping. when I priced the exact same parts at Minimania (who source from minispares) they came out at a WHOPPING $800 (about 460 quid)
Wow....

I discovered the same thing not too long ago.
I'll be buying Many, many, many parts from minispares and Minits in the future.

All of my general 'non turbo or specialised' parts I buy only from Dion Jardine http://www.djminis.com/

He is cheap, doesn't fleece on postage and a good guy to know and be friends with...

Somewhere around Swindon

lol trading could be done here

we could send over parts for the us chaps and the us chaps could send parts over to us save on import tax

Ah - it's ok if they make it through customs.... OR you'll get anything between 0-20% added - and THEN Royal Mail will charge YOU (not me - YOU) anything between £10-£20 for something the size and weight of a piston...

Been there - done that. It's a risk...

I'm actually coming over next week, probably too late to arrange anything but will be visiting UK again March/April. Obviously taking an empty case for my bits... , surely there is some kind of allowance you can bring in, I know coming back as a resident I'm OK up to $600 after that US does not hit you too hard (2%??). Anyone know the rules for allowances into EEC?

Nearly forgot...
Minimania saw my $800 order (which I cancelled before paying) or possibly another I was looking at and sent me an e-mail asking why I cancelled.

I told them......

Nothing yet but that was only last night. I mentioned the 100% markup , now that other suppliers are popping up maybe they are feeling the pinch. I can understand that they could never get down to UK prices but feel they are pushing it with their prices, proof is that I just spent around $1500 not a cent went their way.
