Hi i need help because my brother wants to put a new exhaust on his 88 mini mayfair and he wants it to be louder than mine. i currently have a large bore side exit 3inch exaust and he wants a louder one so could anyone please suggest one to me that could be classed as the loudest exhaust available for a mini.

A few things to note

1) A loud exhaust is loud by virtue of having little restriction. This gives the system very little backpressure. Normally aspirated engines in the majority of cases run better with a certain amount of back pressure. Thus if putting an open pipe on, you WILL lose bhp.

2) The aforementioned open pipe will also cause you untold pain from the boys in blue.

3) Open pipes sound wank IMO. The sweet sound of a good quality sports exhaust is hard to beat.

You want a nice sounding (loudish) Mini with a good quality exhaust system that lasts well and doesn't cost the earth?
Then the Maniflow 2" single box system is the one to have.

or straight through with a cherry bomb, but as tom says these saddo`s that put peco big bores on etc actually make their cars slower, and sound poop ! if you want ya car to be roxy music then for normally aspirated i would go straight through center exit with an rc40 back box.....i had a side exit on me metro with rc40 box on and it twas sweet, even nicer with a set of split 45`s !

What can i say sometimes people need to grow up a bit.

But i think a good stainless PlayMini 3" system should do the trick..

Try Minits of Solihull he stocks that kind of thing.
