I’m in the process of getting an order together for some megasquirts. It is obviously cheaper to buy lots together for the normal reasons, P&P, bulk purchase of components, etc.

I can’t give an exact price at the moment so this is an estimate:

Megasquirt board & processor £38
All other components £35
Box £10

Then if I need to post this on there will be an additional cost.

If you build it yourself I will supply you with:
Instructions (ripped from the megamanual that can be downloaded) with all the necessary bits highlighted for making it work with the EDIS.
Wiring diagram to plumb it into any car.
CD with all the necessary software.
Plus any help and advice you need along the way. I only know about the ignition side btw.

You will then need a few other bits, EDIS, coil pack, 36-1 trigger wheel and pickup and finally a serial cable and PC/laptop to tune the maps.

If you want one built and tested, in a box ready to go I can do that too, but I will cover my time at the all time low rate of about £20 per board.

I would advise that you build it yourself, but acknowledge that some of you might be a bit nervous about doing this. So if a few are interested I may be able to do a build seminar, round at my place, where I can take you through the build step by step.

If you are interested email me: megasquirt@tiscali.co.uk

Ben

P.s Neil & Clubman_Dan if you are still interested email me at the above address so I have a record and don’t miss you off.

PPS. I can’t order millions, due to cost and risk, so there is a limit.

Ben,

Is that for the Version 3 board, as opposed to v 2.2?

Also, what about the relay board, stimulator etc.

Yep should have mentioned that. It is the 2.2 board. I don't see the point of the v3 board just for ignition.

I can order a stimulator if you want one, in the region of £25.

In my limited experiance the relay board causes more problems then it solves, don't bother.

Bollocks. I was looking to get a v3 for another project.

I thought the v3 board was a better bet for ignition, as it has a built in ignition module, plus it gives the option of upgrading to MSII at a later stage, should you so desire-

What are the issues with the relay board?

The V3 board is generally better, but I use the EDIS so there is no advantage. The MSII can be fitted to the V2.2 board, but the development is really for the V3 board. For the price I think the V2.2 board is the best for what I am using it for.

I can order V3 boards, but I don't have components list sorted for this and its a lot of work to do that

The problems I have seen with the relay board is the connections. They are screw treminals and unreliable. Also using the Extra code there are many more IO points used that the board does not cope with so I find it better just to make what I need and make a harnes directly to the MS.

I'm interested! However, a bit illiterate on this thing - basically does this thing do away with the distributor? Any additional modules required to add fuel injection?

Cheers,

Mark

I donated, but somehow didn't get the label! :(

Any additional modules required to add fuel injection? Depends on what injectors you use, a flyback board is required if you use low impedance injectors.

you need a MS for EFi - you can also do ignition with it.

A MJ is purly ignition but is MUCH easier to build and use!

Alex,

I have played around with the MJ software and I don't see how it is better to use. Once the MS is set up it is easy to use. As for building there may be more components, but I would not say it is MUCH easier to build a MJ, its just soldering after all. The big advantage with the MS is that there are lots of things it can do that the MJ just can't. On the TT2 we will be wiring up eveything so we can data log mixture (wideband), water temp, air temp (before and after the intercooler), TPS, rpm, map. There is also a 3 stage shift light, fan control, duel maps for running nitrus or a lower and hight boost map if you like, etc, etc. I don't think the MJ can do all of that. The build time may be slightly longer, but its worth it.

Joe, I have about 10 MS to order, which is plenty. (not all off this forum)

Well the lates is that I have 90% of the components. I am now waiting for the last few to arrive from Farnell and the boards to arrive from the states.

The next delay will be that I am off to Brazil probably on 18th of Feb for three weeks which is just when eveything will probably arrive.

I will contact everybody when I have every thing ready.

OK, here is the latest. I have the boards (well they are at the post office) and I have 99% of the parts, just waiting on some transisors.

Here is the problem though. I am off to Brazil with work for at least 3 weeks from Saturday. Therefore I will have no chance to sort out payments and posting, let alone making the boards for people. As soon as I get back I will sort it.
