I've been using this device for the past few months:
http://www.xitel.com/product_phfl.htm
And am really happy with it.

But now, I want to get sounds in my workshop - so was thinking of using one of these devices soi can leave my cables permanently in the back of my sound system in the house, and have just a cheapy stereo setup in my garage.
Will splitters like this be good or is there a better way to go about it?

Would there be a problem if i had the stereo on in the house, AND another seperate one in the garage both being fed from the same source (the xitel).

Cheers !

I think that would work OK. You are splitting the signal before it is amplified, and so there is no load being drawn from the xitel box. Problems usually arise when overloading amplifiers, for e.g. connecting speakers with the wrong impedance (or several sets of speakers) to one amplifier output.

However, if your amplifier has enough speaker outputs, why not run speaker cable from your amp in the house to the garage. Then all you have to have in there is a pair of speakers that can be mounted up out of the way. The only disadvantage to that is that you can't change the volume, but seeing as you are using your computer as a source, that would be the only thing you could change without returning to your computer anyway.
