i agree, under starting before the stat opens the water will route through the heater output and into the top hose making a route for water to circulate. Presuming of course that you dont have a bypass ala metro/latemini Edited by andeh on 3rd Jan, 2006. I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

I'd say no as well... The is now a giant hole between both holes of the thermostat. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

i was driving with drilled holes in thermostat last season and my engine was running to cold all the time. even in the hot summer time i had less than 60C on the high way driving. during the "normal" town driving was max. 70C

no holes for me = faster warm up time:) I haven't had a hole for a while, (enough or my personal life though!) and like hoggy says most people have the heater on the head open any way, which would help movment up that way. Edited by Miniwilliams on 4th Jan, 2006. Best 1/4 mile 13.2 seconds @116 mph

Yes ben that's a weird one, i was going to say you need another or a bigger rad, but that all must be ok as you can with the holes keep things under control. very strange mate.

I've noticed that the temp can get too low with the drilled holes too, but iI still like to stick a small (about 1mm) hole to help get rid of any trapped air under the stat. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:
