Depends on what head, valves, cr, pistons you are using.

And even then who knows, it depends on individual engine build.

What a pointless question anyway, the avonbar ph 2 cam produces the goods big time and costs pennies, why piss about with the standard cam?

i was just wondering because i didnt want to buy the phase 2 cam and have to change the cam bearings like your suppose too. i was going to leave the standard cam in and not mess with the cam bearings. if the bearings are good do i have to change them?

If you are going to skimp on things as trivial and cheap as cam bearings then I would think twice about building a turbo mini. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING needs to be in tip top condition to give it any chance of lasting more than about 5 minutes. Especially the gearbox.

Its not that hard to do, but if you are unsure an engine machine shop will do them for you for not a lot of money. If you are going to have the block bored get them done at the same time, or take the block along when you get a cylinder head skimmed etc.

I'd say ALWAYS let a professional with the correct tools change the cam bearings. They are so ridiculously soft and easy to ruin.

Also, if you change the cam, there is no rule that you have to change bearings. I've reused bearings through three cams at least with no ill effects.
