i was just wondering because i didnt want to buy the phase 2 cam and have to change the cam bearings like your suppose too. i was going to leave the standard cam in and not mess with the cam bearings. if the bearings are good do i have to change them? Edited by jufferb on 3rd Jan, 2006. If in Doubt, go flat out !!! |

If you are going to skimp on things as trivial and cheap as cam bearings then I would think twice about building a turbo mini. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING needs to be in tip top condition to give it any chance of lasting more than about 5 minutes. Especially the gearbox.

Its not that hard to do, but if you are unsure an engine machine shop will do them for you for not a lot of money. If you are going to have the block bored get them done at the same time, or take the block along when you get a cylinder head skimmed etc.

I'd say ALWAYS let a professional with the correct tools change the cam bearings. They are so ridiculously soft and easy to ruin.
