hey, ok i really cant explain this too well but i am having trouble atm and i need my mini running again, without getting into to much detail i would appriciate if someone in the know could tell me how badly down on power will my engine be with no turbo, its stadnard 1275 turbo engine and the head is "de-beeked".
please dont tell me just to wait for turbo and do it properly becouse i am loosing all hope right now and need this.
and i just need the car to drive again.

hi there dan, well the cr we aimed at with your config would be 8.5:1 for the turbo application you we sorting.

if you bolt the head on and run the car no problems at all!

but at a guess the motor would be down on power say.....20 %....ish

the MPG would also suffer but not as much if you had the turbo on

i suggest to advance the ignition timing to around 10 deg btdc this & may be a touch more !

this would help in the power & mpg figures

if you are in the deep stuff and need the car then make it happen till you get sorted good luck !

Dan it will run, will be down on power but if you just need it working it will run well enough to get you about.

Other thing you could do is try and get a standard 1275 head cheap and bolt that on?

thanks tom, as long as it will run and is drivable with the current head then i would rather do that (as its been reseated and new guides etc) i can live with it being down on power as long as its drivable.

pot dan i have a n/a head you can lend if you want, but its in newcastle upon tyne ? if you want to raise cr a bit.....personnally tom and steve have probably advised best though ;

thanks for your ovffer rich much appriciated but i think i should be fine to see how this goes, if its down on power then it will just give me more incentive to finish what i have left of turbo bits to colect. but for now i need it to run, turbo or not.
