right ive got all the bits to rebuild me gear box. ive done a search theres millions of posts so im hoping someone will e good enough in aswering.

no1, is a turbo box the same as a a+ box but with a bigger bearing on the gear at the bottom of the flywheel housing?

no2, what f/d ratio would people recommend im running 10 inch wheels and the cars will be used on track n drag?

cheers in advance guys?

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

1 ) Yes.

2 ) There is no definative answer to this question. I would suggest calculating speeds and associated gear ratios to see if they are acceptable for what you want. I can do this is you want. I am using a 2.9:1 in my car, benross also uses a 2.9:1 in his car (both are on 13" wheels) and this makes the gearing nice and long, for the turbo torque to exploit. if yours is for drag etc only, maybe try a 3.4:1, or even leave the standard 3.2:1 ratio in there?

I'm swapping my 3.44 out this year.
3.44 just is getting a little too short for motorway (oops, i mean Highway) speeds.

Undecided yet - but it'll be a 3.10 or 2.95....

You definately need to crunch the numbers.
1) confirm the A+ ratio's
2) Assume your revs @ peak power to be your redline
3) Use that gearbox calculator with the above.

I did just type quite a bit more going into sawtooths and much more detail - but I decided not to as there are a lot of poachers around... *wink*

Drop me a PM carl and we can discuss it a bit more if you want.

same here...i ditched my 3.44 in favour of a 3.1 for the same reason as dave. still feels as quick, but means i can sit at 70 without ragging the nuts off it.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

2.9 diff is the way to go on 13s

2.7 diff on anything less than 13s IMO

the torque from the turbo will pull this easy!!!!
if the engin has been modded
