ok as we all know, piston rings for the metro turbo are a bit of a bugger to get, well yet again, my local mini specialist has come good with supplying me kit ! i took my piston in, and he mic`d it up as i believe there are two different pistons, the oil control ring being the diference. he rang a guy and bingo a day later i had a set ! he informs me he can get both sets not a problem. the set i got is the AE set part number R35960 my piston part number is 20831 id17... Ian does mail order, so can get em to you, will take a couple of days though.

yeah .. really good lads .. no bull from them .. if they don`t know something they tell you and try and point you in the right direction . Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

yeh there is one of the car wars vidoes and you see the end of Ians racing career its the starting line at croft i believe, ian is in a mini, and is fighting for the race line, another car clips him and he flips over, bits of mini everywhere. he now has pins in his spine and cant race anymore, he mainly works the cars 4 lance, and he takes all the trophies, i have had many a memorable final with lance, but he is a true sportsman and influenced me to take a leaf out of his book...helping fellow competetors, knowing that by doing so could ruin any chances of winning, but did it any way.....what a guy !

Does anyone know whether the ring types can be identified without pulling the engine apart, ie. by the i.d. number on the piston crown?
