While I have the carb off I figured I would create a heat shield. I see where the original would have bolted to the Plenum. Does anyone have a picture of what the original shield looked like?

It does bolt to the back of the plenum. It then clips onto a metal bracket sandwichd between carb and manifold.

Great, Thanks, I was guessing that it went to the plenum, as there is still a bit of heat shield bolted on. This Pics would help me fab one up.

I have one spare. Offers invited. From memory, it could benefit from a small bit of fibreglass repair, but it is all there.

I just made a shield up out of reflective ally sheet, cut and bent as needed. The fibreglass ones are usually a bit knackered after sitting above a Turbo for about 20 years.

Looking at the one picture above, I may need to fab one up. It isn't entirely clear, but I don't think the blow off valve is going to clear the shield. Hopefully some clearer pictures might shed some light on that. I see it covers the linkage, and part of the Plenum. If it won't hit, or if I can cut some away without ruining it, I would like to use the real thing.

mug if you like i will lay one up out of fibre glass, it might take me a few weeks though ? i am off work till thursday but have no cash 4 raw materials :( offer is there though. the only problem i can think with using metal is heat soak, aas the car gets hot, the heat sheild will do the same metal retains heat better than fibreglass......then again i could be wrong

Richie thanks, but TurboDave has one over here (US) that I am going to talk to him about. My biggest concern is if it will get in the way of some of the Plenum additions I want to do.
