My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Lake District

Providing the engine is well built, setup correctly and well maintained, a mildly tuned Turbo motor should last a long time. It's when poor build quality, incorrect setup or maintainance is neglected that problems arise.
Build your engine step by step, take your time, and pay careful attention to everything. You don't really need the most expensive parts, a well thought out and put together motor is more important. One part i would suggest uprating if nothing else is the diif. At least add a hardened diff pin, or better still a complete cross-pin diff.
Also make sure you take it to a "GOOD" rolling road, with an operater who knows what they're doing, and get it setup. Otherwise your looking for trouble. Believe me i know from experience.......
I'm sure others will add their comments/suggestions.

thanks, i was definatley planning on a rebuild when i find a suitable engine,it will also get regular oil changes and servicing. i dont want to take any chances. i have just just heard a lot of horror stories about mg turbo engines being crap.
i guess those are the ones which dont get looked after.
what sort of power can i expect from a mildly modified 1293cc??

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Yeah a nice realiable (provided its well maintained and built) 120bhp motor is easy enough. That will be rapid!

When you see these 160-170bhp well set up motors its really unbelievable just how quick they are!

I just hope i manage to get mine spot on. feel lucky to have so much good knowledge to draw on from people on this forum *happy*

that sort of power would do me nicely!
i cant wait for my insurance to go down (i'm 18) then i can get to work,
my mate has a 1400 stage 2 engine with about 100-110hp
i'm gonna embarrass him!!
would a standard 1275 with the compression lowered plus a few other mods handle a turbo, or do i have to get a turbo block??
