Hi, i am just about to start prepping my shell ready to slot in a nice turbo engine (hopefully provided by jimster) I just wanna check up with you guys EVERYTHING i need to do in order to fit the engine in. I know the obvious (bulkhead mod) But i'm sure i read somewhere (possibly on turbo phils site) that you need to move some mounts forward about 1cm to give more space around the turbo? Then is there stuff like engine studies, uprated mounts etc etc to consider?
Cheers guys :)

Move the mounts forward, and you need to consider the impactr on the gear linkage, the reduction in space for a front mounted intercooler, the driveshafts being less parralell (in a vertical axis) and the radiator being a little tighter against the inner wing.

Do as almost everyone else, and leave it well alone. The Avonbar bulkhead box, when properly fitted, leaves more than enough room.

oh, i use Rover lower engine mounts aswell. At the top end, I use the adjustable engine steady from minispares (mssk1305) and an ultimate engine steady with M10 threaded bar so i can adjust the length. For the bottom end, i don't bother with the 'standard' bottom engine steady, instead i use one from the bottom of the transfer case to rear of subframe. Never have any problems with that lot, and keeping it all rubber (but using lots of steadies) allows for little engine vibration on the rest of the car...

I recomend the minispares adjustable engine steady, to replace the std one. When cutting the bulkhead box out, it's a good idea to weld a bracket to take the ultimate engine steady, as you cut out where this usually bolts too

Wasn't on my site mate. Like Dave said i would just leave the engine mountings in the normal position and use plenty of steadies. I use the same steadies as Dave, but i also use an ultimate engine steady from the thermostat housing to the bulkhead. This holds the engine securely, i've never had any trouble, though my car usually has quite a low annual mileage.....................lol *laughing*

Sorry to interrupt, but is the engine steady essential when doing this transplant? Where do I get one of these? and where's the best palce to put it?
