T'other side of Manchester

Hey guys..

Hope you are all okay... been reading the forum for quite a while and I have thought about building a turbo project for quite sometime.... but to be honest never had the balls to do it...

After speaking with bud666 the other day and asking him a few questions that he kindly answered I have decided to start my own turbo project, looking to take over a year and do it on and off, as and when I have spare cash available.

All in all my motor has not been running for sometime due to various problems, but I have just rebuilt the bottom end, and its ready to drop back onto the box...

which leaves me with a spare block to base the project on....

I will probably go for a standard 1275 setup (on inspection of the block) looking to hopefully achieve somewhere in the range of 120 bhp...

I have jet to source most of the Turbo items, gearbox, crank and clutch/flywheel setup but as I said I am looking to do this as a long term project and hoping to do most of the rebuild and work myself.

Please wish me luck and thanks to you guys on making a great resource about charging an A-series.

Dan

Crikey.... such a warm welcome ....cheers guys!

Well I started to strip the spare block down tonight its pretty much stripped just have to take the cam out...water pump and fuel pump off... then finally take the head studs out...

The bores "look" okay and there appears to be no scoring or cracks...

So the projects pretty much on from here I guess... although I dont know when I will next be able to get in the garage :)

Tell me please guys whats the best diy way of cleaning the block up?

Welcome to the forum.

If you can get access to one, a steam cleaner is your best bet, but otherwise any engine degreaser with some scrubbing and elbow grease will do the job.

Yippe...

Just sorted out with a mate about a MG 1275 Gearbox, wok, flywheel housing, crank and a pre verto setup....

Going picking them up next week... I pretty much have all the engine parts, just need to source turbo related parts then I can start saving for new parts/kits for the rebuild.

Also my own copy of the Vizard Yellow Bible is due next week I have had hold of my mates for ages now :)

Anyway a few pictures:
