right, now i remember why i sold my last mini arghhhhh!!!!!

Basically i just got this car (1300 metty engine) c reg mini. It had a dodgy clifford alarm/immobaliser on it. So last night i took the pleasure of removing the whole lot.

Anyhow, somewhere along the line i snipped the wrong wire and disconected my electrical fuel pump, now i cant figure out how to wire it up. (although the engine still starts)

I connected it to an ignition live, but it just keeps clicking when the engine is running. Im 90% certain that it was only connected to 1 wire berfore i snipped it.

so has any one got any ideas of what this would be connected to, or why the fuel pump would keep 'clicking' when the engne is running??

Is it an interrupter pump? If so, its supposed to click.............

if its a Solid state facet pump like this:

Then the clicking denotes that it is pumping, so it should do it when the engine is running!

Probably is ony one wire to connect it. It'll be either earthed through its chassis or a local earth.

Yea, thats the one. It must have been wired up incorectly before then as it stoped clicking when the engine started.

Wilst im on the subject has anyone got any spare wing mirrors (see wanted section)

Thanks

It probably does still click when the engine is running, but just not as loud. The pump clicks louder when the engine is off as it is pumping against a dead end (the needle valve).
When the engine is running, it is using fuel, hence the pump does not click loudly as the fuel has somewhere to go.
