Hi guys,

I know this is an exotic piece of kit, but I think it would work quite nicely on a turbo.

Anyone interested in buying one in the next three or four months? I basically want to be able to get a better price by buying two or three.

I can buy it from both, being in Malta. We just have to find which one is better engineered. But I've got a good contact at Mini Sport... Carriage costs would probably dictate buying it from the UK, but if you think we can get a better deal or product from Denmark...

I've tried to deal with minisport, I had the cash waiting in november to buy one of there 7 port heads, but I just could not deal with them. Minisport could not answer 50% of my questions, would not return phone calls, and would not give me a firm price on what I wanted. I gave up.

Personally, I'm just getting myself a bare casting, and then let a friend of mine in the UK do all the head and valvework. The only bad thing I've heard so far about the 7-port is that the inlet ports may be a bit of an overkill... not much of a problem in a turbo!

I'm from Sliema, but I currently livein St. Pauls Bay, with my main Mini garage in B'Kara and another one in Bugibba.

When you're here, do come along and drop me a line... mob. 7979 1275 (no guesses as to where the number comes from.... I've got a 1979 Mini... hint hint...) There are a number of Mini stuff coming up in February, so PM or email me if you want the details...

And Vegard, Jesus does help a lot when you have a Mini in Malta... especially on that green Mini - she has an MG Turbo, with an intercooler in the normal rad position, and a front-mounted rad to ruin the car's looks.... but it's fast! That yellow/white blue Mini belongs to the guy I bought my 1979 Mini from.... he's doing high 12s/lower 13s with that NA engine!

Jim, what do you need to know about the head? Let me try to pull some strings...

I thought that AKM had 'sold out' to minisport?
And minisport then changed the intake ports to a much smaller (and more suitable) diameter before (not , as it would seem) releasing it to the public...

malta mini, you probably know roberto then,
i dont think many people here realise he was in england at the mini showdown ,without his car of course, he tracked me down on saturday , [which is not very hard] and had a good chat ,i had to break off from the conversation as i needed to gat a run in ,
i never saw him again all weekend , not even all day sunday ,if you see him tell him to call me for a chat.

jim are you going to malta on your own??. i knew there was something different about you ,lol. you have too much colour for a native from the valleys.

Carl, of course I know Roberto! He's the one who got me into Minis in the first place! He sold me my first Mini, sprayed it for me, and I witnessed the transformation of his Mini from a russet brown Mk.3 to the Citron Yellow monster it is today. I'll send him your regards if you wish!

i am seriouslty thinking of a few days in malta this year with some friends ,id like to catch some sprinting and of course some drag racing.

i had a seek in malta about 15 years ago ,stayed in pt pauls towers , bang behing where tha coloured boats are tied up ,ate in the Guiliara[spelling] posh place,lol.

That's extremely close to where I live... you were staynig right next to my Aladdin's cave of Mini parts for sure... it's the block right behind St. Pauls Towers! And I live down the road from the tower...

If you're coming over to see some drag rcing, the nicest events are the night runs in Summer... I'll send you the dates as soon as I get them!

The bare casting has a list price of 995 quid including VAT. I believe this would be our best bet, as we can then machine it to our spec, chamber volume and valve sizes.

I'm pretty sure I can lower this if I get some feedback - it's all based on quantities!

I'd potentially be very interested in one of these, if it wasn't sold by Minisport. I wouldn't pay them in buttons TBH, in my experience parts service and advice from them has been poor.

One of the main questions I would have regarding these 7 port heads is how much chamber volume can you get out of them, as this is essential for our turbo apps. Apparently Minisport either don't know, or are not letting on.

OK spoke to their Sales manager.

Seems that the most chamber volume we can get from them is 27cc - how does that sound? Maybe we can use extra-dished pistons to get further...

They cannot discount on the bare castings but they can offer something on the machined ones... if we had to ask them for machined ones, what should we go for? I guess we need the biggest exhausts possible...

What size can you get a 12G940 out to?

Cos with 27cc you can (by my calcs using 15cc pistons) get down to 8.2:1ish.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

my 940 is at 29cc from morspeed, although i'm sure i've seen on VMAX's site that he can do 35cc's!

im sure my 12g940 is 28cc

vmax uses a different head (austin america i think) to get 35cc, and even then it has to be a particularly good casting

I personally can't see them wanting to do any deals. They are selling a product that has no real competition and the waiting list is big enough. If I know minisport the price will be going up soon enough. They will increase it until orders start to fall and then start doing special offers.
