Does anyone know if or why you need different rear shock absorbers

The proper estate/van standard dampers have a built in light return spring in them, to help the damper return. Quite what the intended purpose of this is I am not quite sure, however I can categorically tell you that using standard saloon or uprated saloon (e.g. Spax) on an estate will be fine, as I ran this setup on my old Clubman Estate for some time.

i have uprated g max shocks on my estate and never had any probs handles just fine if this is any help love that straight cut scream!!!
