well it finally happend, i have lost my licence i have court on thrusday next week and i will walk out with an L plate again:(
amazingly i have been driving 2 years on the 6th of this month. and i admit in my first year of driving i was silly (doesent everyone have that stage?) and i now drive like a granny my corsa gets me were i want to go and thats it i dont thrash it or cause any danger to anyone.
but august last year i got stopped in my nova and i had 2 bald tyres. i was told to wait for a court summons (i expected to wait about 1 month) i got a mate to bring me 2 new wheels with legal tyres etc and went on my way.
about 5 months later i get stopped in my corsa. with one bald tyre. i swear it was only just bald on the inside edge and i know its the law i have no argument it was iligal but i did not know about it i wouldent take any chances.
then a month or so later (now) i get a summons for the 2 tyres with the nova. this willleave me with 9 points and i am still within my 2 years of driving (altho by the court date i will have been past it by 3 days) so its bye bye licence i am not looking for sympathy i will go and book a test and see how i go and will keep you all informed its just money i dont have atm and even longer for the mini.
i have been to see my solicitor and he said its deffo going to happen (the look on his face when i told him the same offence twice was somethng else.)

it gets deeper tho, when i crashed my mums escort i was prosicuted for driving without due care and attention (and i still swear i wasent) but they offerd me instead of taking me to court and going through that, say your guilty, take this driving course for 180 quid and thats the end of it. i accepted it, and its in about 2 weeks, i wont have my licence in 2 weeks so i cant take the course. so then i will have to go to court again and get done for driving without due care and attention. so i might even end up loosing my licence twice see how it goes.

That is an unfortunate series of events...

I got pulled for having two 'illegal' tyres on my 4-wheel trailer shortly before leaving the UK. I managed to talk my way out of it by basically saying i was out of the country in less than a week (and not coming back) and that it was a 'borrowed' trailer.
In the end - said copper decided to just tell me that if he saw me with the trailer again, he'd ticket me; I accepted this - and we went on our ways.
Luckilly he didn't spot that there was no 'breakaway' chain, the brake rod was not even attached to the over-run mechanism and the headlight on the towcar was cracked!

End of the day; you lose your license... So what. Re-take it and at least there are no points on your new one (or doesn't it work that way?)

afaik you keep the old points when you re-pass your test..... could be wrong tho...

bit of a shit to be done twice for the same offence, but i bet you wont ever drive with a low tyre again!

Might be worth taking a few lessons before your test. I know I'm 100x better driver then I was when I took my test, but I doubt I would pass now.

my nova was a diesel benross, thats the reason i bought it, then i discoverd i have a diesel fetish lol. i di get pulled about once a week in the nova often more. but only once did the traffic cop tell me about my tyres. i am suprisingly upbeat atm and feeling quite good. i will have a lesson or two before i take my test again.
the thing i am most worried about is the driving without due care and attention thing, becouse if i have to go to court for that one then i think they will throw the book at me (i can not prrove i wasent being a pr!ck in my mums car). but i wasent and its pointless going into it. so i might actually end up loosing my licene now, then getting it back, going to court for this, getting more than 12 points over all and so have no licence and i think a ban. plus what ever fines they feel like hitting me with.
i do keep the points for 3 years regardless. insurance is going to hurt. even on the mini.

Bloody hell chap, not spoke to you in a bit, sorry to hear all the shit. :( .. jsut need to see how it gues i guess, turn up in court smart, be polite and cross your fingers! and invest in a tread depth checking gauge I always replace my tyres well before they wear out on the mini as the handlying becomes plane dagerous in teh wet, but in my mums 106 you jsut dont notice, frightened myself a few times when iv looked at the tyres on that. :( jus tluck whether you get stopped and the police notice it before you do i guess!

You have to make sure you and your cars are 100% legal, tyres, exhaust, MOT, tax, insurance, no alchohol, everything! There is simply no way round it, especially as you are a young lad and are probably not creeping around, so are much more likely to be stopped. I am only 25 myself, I have been there and done it with knackered old cars and no money. I made sure my cars were ALWAYS legal, as where I lived at the time, not being able to drive just wasn't an option.

Nothing you can do about it now, but learn the lesson for the future. If you can't afford new tyres for your car then go on the fucking bus, end of story.

i think the police are alot hotter on the boyracers now than in the past they also seem to have more leeway with things like this loosing your license after 6 points

i can see the sense in it though keeps new drivers on there toes and in theory keeps the roads safer shame the standards of driving seem to be getting worse

shame about the inside wear i got pulled in my old escort, and the copper point out the one of my tyres was wire on the inside . thankfully as the outside of it had 5mm left i got off with a producer.

I feel bad for you mate, as there has definately been times when my tyres have been illegal, and i have been slack to get the replaced.

Im pretty sure id have lost my licence too if id been caught everytime my tyres went bald.

then again, tis your fault for driving a nova!

I lost the use of my left arm/hand in a motorbike accident a couple of years back and couldnt drive for about 6 months. It was horrid as at the time i didnt know if id ever get the use back, so was pretty gutted.

Sounds cheesy, but just try to stay positive and these things tend to work themselves out.

But DONT be tempted to drive without a licence and get further in the shit.

Sorry to hear that pot_dan. A very unfortunate list of events!!

After getting stopped in the mini about 2 years ago and the copper having a good nose at me tyres (a few times over) im always extra cautious on there condition. He also kept questioning if the A032r's were road legal!!!

I've got a new signature now...

i used to drive an F reg 1.2 astra when i first passed me test at 17. i'd finish work at about 1am and about 4 of us would go into town in me car and play pool for a bit. i'd get pulled over at least 3 times a week, usual questions were "is this your car" "where you going/been" etc etc etc. must have got pulled by the same coppers so many times. always kept me documents on me and just handed em over when they came to me window. i wouldnt mind but the car was in good condition and i didnt drive it like a cunt (not for lack of trying mind!)

think the chaviest car i ever had was my red XR2i, or perhaps my metro Gti 16v chav wagon hehehehe

i miss my nova dearly:( but i know the mini is better i just never had the mini right when it was on the road. one day. one day.

my tyres were seriosly balled bout two weeks ago i coudnt afford new 1s till the end of the month, i was washing my car (yes its a nova) and my mum came out chatting to me, she noticed my bald tyres and went absolutly mad at me she demande that i borrow the money of my dad and get some tyres that day. im so glad i did because two days later i got followed by the police for four miles without me knowin doing 65-80 in a 30 zone. they absolutly bollocked me they thought i was trying to run from them. they were over my nova like a rash. i dont think the copper understood that your brakes cant allmost smoke, they ether do or they dont i said, then relised i wasnt in the position for being a cocky cunt. ive learnt now though.
