Hello,

anyone using the Alcon sintered 5 paddle clutch from MED?

http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/product_d...50&vlang_id=194

I want to use it for the street! It is streetable or too harsh?

Thanks
Harry

looks exactly the same as the Minispares item but for more cash, i do have one of these ready to fit and the quality looks very good.

Lots cheaper than the AP item.

leeds/wakefield.

big heavy lump if you ask me, i wouldn't use as long as the AP ones are still available, ,
bad point is if ever it throws a pad its scrap , bu tif a six pad does the same you casn just remove the one oppositer and still use as a lst resort, i have in the past.

A friend of mine is working at Miba who are producing the the pads - so replacement is not a problem. Is the AP a lot lighter??

I use one of these, although I got min from minispares. I find it doesn't slip where the AP plate did slip

leeds/wakefield.

these 5 pad plates are a bit thicker Jim , so you may just ahve a bit more preload as a result so subsequently a bit more friction,= less slip.

maybe carl, waer seams good on it too. Done about 15 drag runs, and around 40 laps around combe, and around 30 miles road use, thats a lot for me) hardly any signs of wear

Finally, on a double gray clutch, are there two grey dabs of paint?

I've been using the Alcon plate for about four years with a double grey. The plate still looks good with no sign of wear.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Am I blind/thick? Which is the Alcon one?

I've never measured, but won't a 190mm plate fit a pre verto setup?

No, the 190mm plate will not fit
pre-Verto, you have to stick to the 180mm.

I use this in both the hillclimber and the sprint, no bother.
