Ive just had my Final drive pinions removed with force of a grinder. Unfortunatly the guy doing it sliped and put a 2mm score down the outside edge of the piece. see photo.

In my opinion the case harding will be buggered now thus this one is now scrap... what do you think?

I wouldnt use it in a turbo motor but probably chance it on NA.

hmm - I'd have no problems using that myself. Not going to go into great detail why - but that's not lost a significant amount of strength IMO.

Besides, the pinions are offset from the crownwheel i recall - so just make sure the offset is the right way that this side is hanging in fresh air.

Then again, if it's something like a 3.4 - i'd replace it just because they're easy to find and it's ultimate peace of mind...
