oh poop

just finished off my gearbox, and i built it with a plastic caged mainshaft and first motion bearings

is this a bad bad bad idea? will they violently explode on me wrecking everything, or will they last a year of abuse?

thanks

Whats wrong with plastic ?

The worst I have ever seen of a plastic cage was a few cracks?

I'd rather have broken plastic in my box than lumps of metal floating around...

ive seen a bronze gaged one before and it was well shagged so was the rest of the gearbox.

you can get welded or riveted cages if you do get a metal one then only use the riveted ones as there are alot stronger than the welded type.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
