Hey Guys,

I'm looking for the original builder owner of my mini. The car was featured in the MiniPower video. It has a blown turbo motor and I'm trying to track down the original builder to see if he has any suggestions on what to do.

You can see more pics of the car at http://www.miniresource.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4076

Thanks
FZ

I have no idea if it was at Mini world... but it is definately in the Mini Power video that I have but can't watch because it is in PAL and us Yanks use NTSC.

Who is this John Flangan sir and how do I get a hold of him. Anyone know Dave Close?

We're getting somewhere now...

Thanks

It was indeed in Miniworld, i have a copy of the Magazine. On the Minipower video it says Mr Close is in the same Mini club as A Mr John Flanigan. There is a guy called John Flanigan who uses this site. So it's possibly the same person. I think the club was called "Blanford Bonnet Stripes"...... or something like that ?
I'll try and find my copy of the Video to make sure.

Pleases tell me how you came to hear about blandford Bonnet Stripes, i successfully ran the club for 5 years and when i moved out of the dorset/somerset area nobody had the balls to take on the challenge of heading up a 100 plus members club. It all folded and the left over cash went into a kiddies charity.

You sound as if is still running?...it ain't!

Did you know me in Yeovil then..MINISHACK maybe?

bonnet stripes is definately not running anymore but the the club that has replaced it is crap. nobody seems to want to do anything but sit around and talk. as i said before i'm new to the mini scene but as i've just married into a mini mad family i've been bitten by the bug!! my wifes' uncle used to go to the minishack and speaks of you as a turbo nutter! he himself has built a turbo mini and currently has a collection of four.

The truth is BBS was a Dorset based club, Blandford of all places!, although we did have members from Yeovil and other places a club never replaced it as such. I believe chris ? and his Mrs set up a club but i am sure this was just to get castle coombe Free tickets..i could be wrong.

I ran the minishack for about 12 months around a full time job, i'm sure if i had carried it on full time it would have made a living.

Breaking minis/metros was quite lucrative at the time!

Regards to your uncle whoever he is

JON....

The car ended up in San Francisco after a car dealer bought it off Dave and brought it over here. A couple weeks later one of his sales people took it out and blew the motor. This was 4 or so years ago and it has been in storage ever since. I was looking at a different mini they had in the showroom and the sales person told me that there was this other mini (this one) in a warehouse... so to make a long story short, after a year of thinking about it, I put a deposit on it, they pulled it out of storage, pulled the motor... and that's where we are now. I'm probably going to end up spending 15-18K dollars by the time its ready to take home (including both the car and the work that needs to be done on it.)
