I was going to continue this in the wanted section, but though it warrented a new thread.

How have people piped up their brake bias valves?

We have the non servo duel system master cylinder. Obviously one of the outputs goes to the front and one to the back via the limiter valve thing. I have 3 questions.

1. Does the master cylinder have 2 bore sizes inside it?
2. Is it realy as simple as removing the limiter valve plumbing one output to the front and one to the rear, then add a bias valve in the rear line?
3. How have people done this? Using a duel or single circuit master cylinder?

Cheers

Ben

1) Not sure never dismantled one.

2) Yes. This is how I did it on my old Clubman Estate. Think of the early single line cars, this is how they do the rear brakes as well.

3) I did it with a split front/rear master cylinder.

1. Some are, not all. I think the only type you can get now, is the twin bore ones. It's easily to see on the outside of the casting if they are single or twin bore.

2. The one you want to buy is rubbish. Get a simple inline one and fit to the back circuit. On my car, the front circuit runs directly to the fron wheels. and the other directly to the rear subframe. No silly big heavy shitt reducer on the bulkhead.

Well that has made my mind up, seems a much better way than that thing on the bulkhead, it may save weight too. It will take a bit of tuning I guess, but we can manage that.

The master cylinder is a later type twin bore one (with the yellow tag).

Are both bores the same? so it dosen't matter which one goes to which end. I couldn't work it out from the haynes manual.

I have used the exact valve shown the the demon tweeks link posted by Vegard above. Does a cracking job.

You may be suprised at how much difference it makes once you get the rear brakes actually doing something to earn their keep.

But is that the top outlet or bottom?

Decision made, we're off to buy a bias valve.

If you look at the cylinder you'll see it in the casting. I'm rather sure that the lower one is the front/big one.

Edit: I did remember this from a while ago:

I don't think I can mount mine there, I'm sure the Blue Book says it can't be adjustable when driving. I'll check though, that might just be anti-roll bars.

Master cylinder - top to rear, bottom to front , cheers Vegard

Mine:

I've mounted mine on the rear subframe. Out of sight, but quite easily to adjust. I'm not allowed to reach it from the seat either. Another possibility is to mount it on the bulk head.

top, with the smallest area to front, when you have a small area you make more pressure. so lower to rear, and top to front

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Look on ebay for those valves. I got a wilwood one new from the states really cheap. Postage is peanuts. Mines the infinity adjustable type, basically the same as jims but a newer model. Was about £35.
