I have also found Greenstuff poor in the past. I went from Mintex 1144's to Greenstuff and the EBC weren't a patch on the Mintex.

I am currently using the Ferodo DS2500 compound on my track car. The pads are EXCELLENT with no signs of fade even with incredibly hard use (e.g. Cadwell park, 2 hard stops down to 30mph from 90+mph within 10 seconds).
The only downside is that they are rather expensive, but worth it. If I were ever to take my Mini on a trackday and the pads to fit is are available in that material I would buy them without a second thought.

just get slotted, aparently holes arent necersary apart form looking pretty

ive also read that only 4 or so grooves are needed to clear the pads, so dont get to hung up on spending loads on a set of discs as they have 18 slots, all it is doing then is reducing your surfaced area

So what make of vented disc is best, are the expensive ones better than the 30 quid a pair-ish ones from the motor factors or not really

I'd be interested in other peoples opinions on this also.
I have been putting cheapo discs on my trackcar, as they are only £40 a pair and seem to do the job, they do get trashed quickly though due to the way they are used, but at £40 I don't mind replacing them.

But I have wondered a few times if some of the say £80 ones are worth investing in?

Giallofly, Dan, Dangerous, AlexB, Nicky, AlexF & Neil8p will all tell you why I use the brakes hard.

I can say with absolute 100% certainty that I am a lot faster round a circuit with them than I would be without..........

In my my experience of vented by holes or slotted discs, thay seem to "eat" pads like mad.

My metro which has fantastic brakes has vented undrilled or slotted discs and i can not fault them.

On my Mini that i also drive very hard on a track day i have used 2 sets of pads in one day.

I put this down to the slotted disc, i am now back on solid ungrooved with alloy 4pots with Mintex and they are very good.

I'm coming to the conclusion that grooves in disks are a waste of time. there are a number of theories about what they do and how they help. but all they do in reality is look smart and wear your pads out quicker.

I do have 6 gorrve disks on the TT, but I wouldn't bother on my road mini.

I've had Red-Dot disks on my Subaru and on the TT and found them to be very good and resistant to wear. I don't know what other disks are like but you couldn't turn these down on a lathe, they'd need to be ground (is this normal for diske)

Wil

P.s. Is middle foot braking when in desperate times you use both feet on the brake pedal?

Bit of a thread revival!

But after 7 years are there anymore opinions on this, I'm gOing to order my disks and pads from minispares tomorrow but I'm wonder whether it's worth paying the extra £30 and getting drilled and grooved?
