dear turbo builders,
I'm looking for a good source of metro turbo oil pumps,
I just received one from a welknowne supplier and it is sh!t, plenty of play on the shaft , and between the annulus, so it went direct in the bean *angry*,
could you tell me where to order a high quality one, or better a supplier of AE ones, I know some machine shop are sending them as they are some times on ebay buy guys changing their project, just missed one yersterday .

regards

I think I might have a decent one lying around. I bought it thinking that I would get it to fit on my 998 block but it involved too much work. I'll have a look later tonight an see if I can find it. and if it's up to your requirements.

Hi fab,

I bought a pump from Avonbar (Superflow), looks good, good tolerances, steel packed plate; but I didn't try it yet.
Has anyone experience with this pump?

You are also hating this "hand selected high quality" pumps from the "well known supplier" *tongue*

Hi harry,
you don't need to try the pump , just open it, check that there isn't greet in it.... then double ckeck the play betwenn the plate and the rotors and between the rotor and the annulus with a feeler gauge to be sure that it is on the tight side of the tolerances,
then as KC discribed in his article it is best to have the higher annulus diameter possible , so it should have six blades and the larger annulus and rotor ones.
how many blades have your superflow pump and what is the external diameter?
sorry to be so complicated with oil pumps , but the last time I didn't carefully checked this I destroyed a completely new 1380........four pistons, a cam , a crank , all bearings , this make a very bad day

I found the Turbo pump I have.

It's a MiniSpares item. I've done a few measurements on it and they are as follows:

Play in shaft 0.1mm to 0.15mm
Inter lobe gap 0.075mm

It looks good to me and I'd be happy to put it in my engine.

Yes it's for sale.

They're about ?30 from Minispares and I reckon it'll cost ?3 - 4 to post in the uk.

So how's ?15 including postage sound (if you're in the uk)
