no points:) the guy that decided (i am not sure of his title but he was a top bloke lol) admitted he has had bald tyres before he noticed and things, its an easy over sight. and i stated that i was legal and always have been in every other way, tax, mot insurance etc. legal advisor was on my side becouse i had no solicitor.

They werent that bad at all it was the tracking out that made them go so fast i reckon

You got ticketed for them???

That looks borderline enough for the copper just to give you a vehicle defect notice; not to actually ticket you...
Either the copper was an a-hole, or you pissed him off - or we're looking at the best tyre of the lot?
I thought i was going to be looking at slicks to be honest. Be interesting to see what MFT (myfirstturbo) will say!

For a start, well done I suppose, I agree with Dave that I think you were unlucky to be taken to task over the tyre shown in the picture, OK, it is low, but it is obvious that it has only just crossed the borderline, it is not as if you have been driving about on slicks for months.

My advice to you would be to consider what the worst case scenario could have been.....license lost, big fines. With that in mind, after you have finished paying off your fine and costs, keep putting that £5 a week away, as a fund for tyres, tax, insurance, MOT, all the other things you need to stay legal. Then, when an unexpected bill comes in for your daily driver, you will have a few quid put by to repair or buy whatever is needed. OK, you will be a bit down on spending money each week, but think of the position you COULD have been in this morning otherwise........

tom you make great sense i will try to stick to that.
i exepected to leave the court minus my licence and a lot lighter in the wallet(see other thread) so i feel ontop of the world right now.
that was the only tyre ont he corsa, 6 months preveus to that i was stopped with 2 bald tyres on my nova.
i think the only reason he leaned was becouse the court dident know i had already been done for having 1 bald tyre, so he was looking at it as my first offence, i felt cheeky tbh but what was i suposed to do.
the coppers at the time actually said i am the most polite person they have pulled in a verry long time. for that tyre i got a 60 pound fine and 3 points, fixed penalty.
for the 2 on the nova i got 5 pound per tyre and court costs.

and the nova will be scrapped soon*tongue*

It happens to us all, I still try to keep a few quid aside in case one of my cars suddenly craps out, or needs say tyres or an exhaust suddenly.

Although having a bit of a fleet to choose from does alleviate the pressure somewhat it has to be said!
