i was tinkering yesterday trying to get my timing roughly right (i really should invest in a strobe)

Anywho if i turn my dissy anti clockwise i lose all power and the engine usally cuts if i turn enough. I need to turn the dissy more clockwise - but the ignition module hits the starter motor.

I thought i would then turn the dissy 90 degree anti clockwise and switch the leads round. Now the vacume advance hits my oil pressure switch...

Anyone else have this trouble? *evil*

Firstly try and set your timing using the static method if you don't have a strobe.
Better to invest in a strobe though!

If you find that the dizzy is fouling on certain parts, then it is possible that your dizzy drive isn't correctly aligned.

The HBOL says the method for fitting it.

BTW the bottom rad bolt can be used to screw into the dizzy drive to allow you to remove it.

a trial an error game!

take out the dizzy drive spindal turn it the way you wish the dizzy to be,replace the spindal in it's new position and see how that is. i find positioning the the cap Number 1 plug lead outlet to about the 2 o'clock position is about right...does that make sense?

good luck!

yep no. 1 at 2 o'clock does it for me every time too. Although I have neither a vacuum advance or an ignition module.

mine would foul the oil pressure switch if i had one, try replaceing the switch with a gauge, or puting the switch on a t-piece so its out the way...

Mine did exactly the same...

I switched to a pre-engaged startermotor and got enough clearence... but that was a quick fix, I'll be moving the dizzy drive to sort it properly!
