As you never specified Which vauxhall engine, I've run with the vauxhall to be honest *blush*

IMO, once you take the 5-port head off an a-series, it's no longer an A-series aswell...

you see im thinking the vauxhall mini would be more mini as you get the mini enjoyment due to it having the mini suspension

the engine in question was a 1.6 nova engine, so it doesnt ruin the handling like an xe would, also it has all steel body, as a mini should

hmm we were having a drunken a series vs nova argument, then i completely confused myself buy making that point

(damn, ive been sigged, cheers phil)

are you on about your matesmini clubman that was at combe if so that was very nice and very well engineered, looked better than a factory fit engine bay.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

well, I built a 1.6SE mini for the GF before i left England using the Allspeed kit.
100hp; 100lb ft, 5psd box (with corsa TD FD - 5th is equivalent to a 2.7 in a mini box) and it all fitted in a round-nose.

Without a doubt - the nicest road-going mini i've ever driven; and more 'mini' than something running on a rear beam, coil overs, flip front, perspex'd, etc, etc, etc...

Well; that the opinion of someone who's ACTUALLY built and driven one at least... *wink*

Would you guess there is a vauxhall engine hiding under here?

TD have you got any pics of the engine bay, im not building one or planning on im just curious.

nic your mates was very very nice very and very well built. it even looked good facing me when he spun at combe( i was a bit scared that moment)

makes you wonder if its worth spending all this money on a series doesnt it when you could build sommething like the above that wont need rebuilding every year.

i know its not a mini if its not an a series but im changing my opinion on this a little. theres lots of manuacturers that use all different engines in one model isnt there. and what with the price of the a series engines geting dearer and dearer.*smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

If old people come up to your mini and say
"I used to have one of these..."
then its good enough to be called a mini :)

This was still work in progress - Engine was running at this point...

Note the loom is the original vauxhall loom. All that is different is that tha grommet through the bulkhead is slid 6" along the loom more towards the engine end. It feeds nicely through, and the ECU sits behind the dash where the glovebox is.
Servo is the standard rover one - suitably re-positioned. Header tank is mpi / metro. Screenwash reservoir is stock 1989> mini.

I've never seen an engine (apart from the a-series) that looks so 'right' in the roundnose engine room.
If you're interested, check out www.1.6mini.co.uk *wink*
