I'm after ideas for moving the fuel tank in an estate. Only thoughts I've had so far are have something made that will fit in the spare wheel well and fit a raised boot floor over the top.

it move it to over the rear wheels thats the only advantage i can think of, i thought about moving mine to one in the spare wheel well but if i remember rightly it would of been a smaller tank too.

A few reasons - move the weight over the rear wheels as Mike said would be the main one.

The spare never fitted under the boot floor anyway so it just used to rattle around in the boot

could you remove the spare wheel well and fit a tank in the middle of the rear subframe? Just a thought

That would probably work quite well, you could cut the rear floor out, mount the tank underneath in the middle of the subframe, and then have a flat floor inside the back of the car.

Thanks, I would be interested to know dimensions but don't go to a lot of trouble if it's not handy. I've got an idea of a shape in my head, and if it will fit I was thinking of approaching Owens Fabrication for a quote.
