Hi,

What is the best aftermarket ignition system for an uprated turbocharged a-series?

Cheers, Tim

Gosh, thats a loaded question. Depends on what you really want and how much you want to spend. IMO you can't do much better than the megasquirt and the megajolt. Bot provide fully mapped no frills ignition for around £100. If want a few more fancy bits then there are loads like emerald and dta, etc but bank on £500 just for the box.

Have a search for megasquirt and megajolt on here. Even better try the excellent megajolt guide from nic

The Megasquirt/ Megajolt setup sounds like good value for money.

I've never really looked into this before, so to be honest I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at when it comes to the spec' sheet for the packages.

I have recently installed this engine:

I would like to squeeze 160bhp+ without winding the boost up too much.

The megasquit/jolt option is great value for money. have a read round www.msefi.com.

AlexF2003 sells the megajolt. If you want the megasquirt there are plenty of sellers on Msefi, Bill Shrvington seems to do good business in the UK.

Ultimately mapped ignition on its own will not really make you more power. However what it will do is to allow to SAFELY run higher boost pressures.

To get 160+bhp you need to be running a decent amount of boost, and also a good intercooler.

For any mapped ignition system you will need a crank trigger wheel, check in the "For Sale" section for details the service I provide for this.

Excellent. I'll have a good read around www.msefi.com . I'd like to get myself clued up on things so I know exactly what I'm getting from each package.

Looks like the Megajolt/ Megasquirt setup's are definitely a serious consideration here.

Many thanks for all the info, I've certainly got plenty to chew over...

Cheers, Tim *smiley*
