Forgotten more than most ever know

Don´t have that much info but cant really see any point in having them in Minis. 11 stud ARP setup is all you really need, most likely overkill.

Anyway, maybe there are no uprated stds for maestros ?

I know a trick that Slap Head uses on Miglia engines: He uses ordinary machine bolts (allen cap heads) as they are as strong as ARP but only about £1 each.
If you think that sounds odd, Pete Baldwin uses them.

I seriously doubt it!

i'd be amazaed if any self respecting engine builder uses socket head screws to hold there head down, seing as its a course thread into the block, and would not not acheive the same clamping forces as the fine thread used normally,
furthewrmore all sochet head unless marked otherwise are rated at 12.9 . whereas tha ARP bolts are rated well above this,
i'm sure dr dave will be along to give us the low down on what these markings meen in english,
i already know but am only a simple lad and cannot descride without a bloody essay which i'm not going to type,

as for using m12 if thats what they are using on some other site ,and if on the A aseries ,there as thick as they are having bad taste in there cars, as they will have the same probs as using course threaded cocket screws.

i was about to say a similar thing carl,

also knowing a suitable value to torque tighten the cap screws to, as it would be quite different,

interesting though

leeds/wakefield.

also every time you tighten up the cap screws you'd be stressing the threads in the relatively soft cast ironleading to probs very quickly.
