Horndean - Near Portsmouth

Hi guys, yesterday i was taking the pistons out of my block. I was undoing the bottoms of the rods and pulling the pistons out through the top as described in the haynes.

I had a phone call so my dad decided he would help remove the last piston, he somehow managed to pull the crank out of the bottom (id realeased the crank) and pulled the last piston (number 4) downwards, the bottom ring of the piston expanded and now i cant push the piston through the top of the block. Ive tried pulling it out of the bottom but the piston fouls on the block and cant be pulled anymore.

What do you reckon i should do? It was the last thing before my whole engine is in every single piece and my dad fubared it lol.

Hope you can help,

Rich

Are you going to be using the same pistons and rings when you rebuild? If not can you remove the piston ring that has opened up then the piston should beable to push back up the bore.
I think i made this mistake myself a few years ago when rebuilding my first engine.

2 steady hands and some sharp screwdrivers should see the oil scrapers pushed back into the pistons and the piston back into the bore. will be fidly as hell but do-able.

As Dan said - if it's new rings, then just break the offending one off, and push upwards...

I did this once too

Like Evolution suggests - get some small objects and someone with small hands and you will be able to tuck it in enough to push the pistons back into the cylinder.
