Who do you guys, use for insurance?

and how much do you tell them,

If for instance i make a hybrid, do i insure it as the car what it came from or a modified mini?

TIA

HIC or Adrian Flux are good for modified vehicles.

You need to tell them EVERYTHING that is different on the car from standard specification. If you do not, you may as well not have insurance at all, as if you come to claim off it, and they discover modifications you have not declared, they can make your insurance null and void.

I'd stay clear of adrian flux personally, i've been with them for a few years but found out the other day that they cancelled my insurance back in december without telling me! so i've been driving for 3 months with no insurance, only found out when a copper pulled me over and said my cars coming up on the comp as not being insured, luckily he was pretty friendly and said he'd trust me that it could be a comp mistake. phoned flux and sure enough i wasnt insured....bunch of cunts!

Phoned up HIC through miniworld on saturday and got a better deal and on a classic policy which means i dont need to use me no claims *happy*

There must be more to that though, surely they are not going to just cancel it for no good reason?

last year i swapped the insurance from my mini to me rover 214 while i rebuilt the engine, it ran out at the start of september. by that time i'd done the mini engine so instead of renewing it on the rover i insured the mini.

got a phone call in january from a debt collectors saying i owed such and such because i hadnt been paying the installments on the rover......the rover i wasn't driving and hadn't renewed the insurance on. Flux had automatically renewed it for me and when i hadnt been paying as i didnt know about it they cancelled it and now it appears they cancelled the mini aswell.

I use HIC - Very cheap for classic cars. I am 22, and pay £364 for my car, all mods declared :)

Flux are problem after problem after problem. Even if they're £100 less than HIC, it's worth still going with HIC from my experience...

Insurance companies are devious gits though - Do yourself a favour and generate a word document with EVERY single modification listed.
Mine was FOUR pages long; the engine/drivetrain section was 1.5 pages alone.

Every last detail, from the chrome tyrecaps to the dummy filler neck, to the minifins to the 1.5 full-roller-rockers... EVERYTHING. Basically, call and get the quote - go through the basics, then say you have a list of every mod which you'd like to fax/mail them for their review and enclosure in your file. The responsability then shifts to them, to 'properly' insure your vehicle based on the modifications declared. Added to this, there is a significantly reduced chance they can wriggle out of a situation, should you need to make a significant claim (e.g. death, or severe permanent injury to a third party)...

a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

i use flux, they are ok, but if you have a bump and the other party take you for a ride, dont expect them to fight your corner ! they just pay up (not their no claims) i submitted full vehicle inspection reports, statements and photographs, indicating that the other party did not have insurance as their vehicle was in an unroad worthy condition ..bald tyres with nails in em, lights off, no tax, etc etc. all they had to do was provide a representative and bobs ya uncle......but no i got shafted !

Flux is also a sister company to Hic as i rang them for a quote after ringing Hic and they refused to beat the quote as apparently they are a sister company.

So went with Hic, Similar price to Alex B, Also 22 with all mods declared!

Cheers Matt *smiley*

im with flux, and when i told them it was modified they sent me a 5 page document that i needed to fill in lol.

Bud666- All insurance policies are automatically renewed now, you must phone to tell them to cancel it should you not be renewing it.

Thats the way it is and if you didnt pay up then i guess they is no reaason why they shouldnt stop your policy. but they should have told you......

Near Daventry, midlands

Adrian flux are owned by zurich (sp) and are not a sister company of hic afaik. I always thought HIC were a intermediary(sp)/consultants and didnt do any cover, just found you cover etc...

I've seen the future and tbh its Pie
