Pretty simple as you suspected. I removed the old ones, cleaned the block slightly with some fine sandpaper and tapped the new ones home using a suitably sized socket. I know some people put some loctite on the edge of the plug when fitting to make a good seal.

I put a bit of household silicon sealer on before fitting
