Chaps ...
please please help me !
I have been hunting for a nice mk1 for ages now ...
I have found one but am unsure how much it is worth ...
please bear with me ..

MK1 Shell 1965 ... No rust at all .. Paintwork 7/10
Bumper + Overriders
Standard interior
No not floor start
No magic wand as later box fitted
Cooper 130mph speedo
Cooper s Brakes
Adjustable ride height all 4 corners
adjustable shocks all round
Engine ( of unknown build ) feels ok ish ... with twin carbs
Would defo need a rebuild though
Steel rims 4.5 *10 with new Yoks

Blokes talking £3000 ..... is that a fair price ??

Seems a lot to me seeing as I would have to rebuild engine and possible repaint. I dont really know Mk1's are worth

What engine is it? Is it just a 998?

Have any panels been changed on it in the past has it been patched up?

Don't know if this helps but in 2003 my MK1 cost me £700. It came with 11 months MOT and a few months tax.
It was painted in thick HAMMER FINISH Hammeright, it had reverse rim wheels, wooden dashboard and a metro 1000cc engine.
It looked sound but when I finally got the paint off it needed 1 A panel, 1 rear quarter, 1 boot floor repair, a rear valance and a lower back panel and an obvious spray job.
The welding and spraying cost £600 and I think it looks quite good, not concourse but nice.
All in all i've probobly spent another £1500 on bits to get it how I want it.
I think if you want a good, solid needs no major work car you should be looking at £2500 ish upwards.
I started with a rough ish one and ended up spending about that. So I think you can either buy cheap and spend that on parts, or buy pricey and not need to.

the engine is a 1275 that apparently has been bored out somewhat with a big valve head gas flowed blah blah
