I'm curious...

Over here; the only steering wheel locks you can get are the one that stopped selling 10 years ago in England -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=8041281624

Or you can get these ones
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=8041251540
Which are fine-ish; except for if you know how (like me*wink*) these 'barrel' locks can be picked in anything between 20 and 120 seconds - hence I'm not wanting anything with these on...

Obviously, two minutes with a sharp hacksaw will have both of these locks removed aswell anyway (at the expense of a steering wheel)...

I know 'auto express' used to rate the locks every year - but note that the disklok doesn't mention winning for the past few years - is it that Auto Express no longer tests, or is there something better?

I personally think that the original "Diskloks" are the best on the market, I currently have three.

Nothing else I have seen even comes close to the solid construction of the disklok.

I have one on my main car, one on my second car, and one on my girlfriends car.

My other 3 cars are either in a garage, or stored in places I don't see the need to disklok them............

probably dont bother with them over there, theyll just k nock on your door with a gun and ask you to take it off. mind you its going that way over here.

dave if theres no good steering locks overthere you should ship a load overthere and make some moneys.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Well, I'll be honest Carl - There ain't a huge demand, because there is soooo little car crime.
I mean - in winter; folks will drive up to a shop, get out the car with the engine still running, go and do shopping, then walk out. Or in the Summer - they leave windows half down!

BUT - I want my mini as secure as possible... Aswell as my pickup when i'm towing the mini anywhere and stop off along the way...

Dave, I have just weighed one of mine, using the superbly accurate device known as our lasses bathroom scales it is somewhere between 4 and 5 kg.

disclock is the one to go 4 the others can be removed in less than 30 seconds......the bar ones are shite as the wheel just gets cut and voila ten seconds or less. i use imobaliser, alarm, disc lock and multi lock (gear lock) failing that a wheel clamp fixes everything !!!!!

Sorry to go OT a bit, but this is the second thread today that has started slating living in the UK. I have only been away in Brazil a week and it seems that the country is falling apart, car hijacking is rife and we all need to ship out. Am I missing something? The UK is one of the best countries in the world IMO, we are all to quick to conform to the distorted view of the drug riddled, crime infested streets that the papers would have us think we live in. Take an objective look at the UK and then find somewhere better. Every foreigner I speak to has the same moans about their country as we do.

Rant over, I think I am a bit home sick.......

Ben not to put you down at all, but you r living with rose tinted glasses on, i can tell you for fact that britiains streets belong to the criminals, coz our shite court system keeps letting the smack heads back on the streets, friends and cloeagues put their lives on the line fighting these criminals, only to be slated by the general public, attacked by the criminals, and disciplined by the bosses !

i maintain my comment about disc lock folks psml !

I'm not saying it is perfect by any means. I know we have problems, but it is all to easy to critisise. Rose tinted glasses is the best way otherwise you are on a loser. I can tell you for a fact that my street does not belong to the criminals so you fact must come from the papers I mentioned earlier. Not going to continue this, I just wanted to say that the UK is not as bad as grumpy old men would have you believe. Go hillclimbing, hillwalking, get into the country, to the beach, out in cities across the country and enjoy it for what it is. Don't let the small (not fact just what I have experienced and not been lead to believe) amount of criminals get to you and spoil what is a great and diverse country. I just wanted to redress the balance and try to get people to look at what they can enjoy in the country and not put it down at every oportunity.

Come out here to Brazil and see the crime, poverty and drugs problems and then tell me we have problems....

The End

Ben

No opinion on locks I'm affraid, I have a far to trusting nature. It will bite me in the arse sooner or later.

Ben - I do agree - to a point.

Having lived out here now for a long time; I can put it down to one word: Respect (as in the lack of). This is self-respect, and respect for other peoples property.

Folks look at me exceptionally strange when i lock my car at the petrol station when going inside to pay. Second nature in England I believe? And what of folks getting mugged / fighting on a night out? Well - I've seen ONE fight when i've been out on the town.... Blimey - I remember going to BiggMarket a few years ago; EVERY bar we were in there was fighting. Every road we walked down; fighting...

OR; you can live in America where schoolkids have guns, wierd folks go hunting, praise George Bush for being a great leader, etc. Nowhere is perfect. For me; I made a good move. Having spent time in Poland, italy and brazil - I do agree; there are countless millions worse off.
I just wish the scallies , villains and other useless examples would realise this aswell.
