just been to have a gander at an old mg meastro turbo thats sat up at a local paint shop. its basicaly totaly rotten but the engine was supposed to be a good runner. its got a few good spares like the plenums and carb etc that i know i could use, but what about the turbo? its a T3 from what ive managed to find on the net but i cant find any other info about it. just wondered if anyone had any ideas? im guessing it'l be no good cause the engines a 2L but stranger things have happened.

theres 2 turbo's 2 plenums one modded for dump valve, a billet actuator, the hiff 44, bleed valve and daft stuff like that. possibly the fuel reg and pump? never thought to look at them.

i think theres enough spares to warrent buying stripping and scrapping it but just wondered whats actualy worth keeping if i did drag it home!
cheers
steve

doh! why did i start messing with it!

What a shame a great car like that has died. The turbo is no good for the mini, but the rest of the inlet system is all good. Depends on what price is. I bet the turbo's will sell to someone on ebay too.

Wouldn't it be worth a bit as a complete car as they only made 500 turbo ones

yeah been poking about on the net a bit, didn't realise they were so rare! only 500 or so ever made. its been well chaved up tho so its lost a good lot of value even without the help of the rust.
ah well i'll see what the bloke wants for it, like you say what i cant use will prolly sell on the net pretty well anyway.
cheers for the help
steve.

lol you posted while i was. yeah might be worth putting the standard bits back on, keeping the billet actuator and modded plenum etc and putting it on that site! all depends how much the blokey is looking for, he just wants it moving away form his paint shop so hopefully not too much.

I test-drove a montego estate a few years back. 1.6l spec on the outside; MG Turbo mechanicals, brakes and suspension on the underside.

Fantastically quick - and annoyingly - quicker than the SD1 vitesse I'd purchased only the week before... It was touch and go, but I decided to stick with the Vitesse!

A few months ago I spotted a newer version of a similar thing, a Rover 400 Tourer fitted with a Tomcat engine box suspension etc....

I was very tempted as I like sleepers, especially things that are a bit different.........
