Yep.
Due to realizing how rubbish the way we were saving the read/unread threads, I've decided to change it. Unfortunatley this means we lose some of the coolness which was with the old way.

Active topics are no longer persistant. If you close your browser, or log-out, you will lose any unread threads from your list. The active topics list now works on Dates - i.e. its now..

Topics you've not read which have been posted or replied to since your last visit to the forum

But that's too long for the menu.

If you could give it a test, and let me know if it works or whatever. Usual deal, you tell me if its buggy, and I'll fix it in 3-6 months. Ha ha.

Hopefully this will speed things up a bit - but we'll have to see.

Cheers.
Al.

I don't understand.

It worked fine as it was before for me?

I don't log out, but I do look at TM from two different machines, home and work.

So if I go from home to work and haven't had chance to read all "active" posts, then by the time I get to work they will not be active and I will miss them?? Or have I got it wrong??

My only comment is, "If it ain't broke don't fix it"??????

It was a code problem, not a functionality problem.

You are correct though, if you dont read them all, you will miss them. It's just the way it has to be. It means the forum will run faster for everyone, and wont fall over.

Sorry :(

It ddin't work though. My server recently refused to host my site using this. You can't imagine what that was like, you TM guys don't want to go through it,

im not understanding this does todays topics reset everytime you close the browser?

it doesnt seem to be at present

the new topics this is working similarly to the old one, but only counts actual new threads, but shows all with new posts

however from what your saying will this reset everyday, not every visit?

sorry for the hassle

Nic, what? I'm confused.

How I understand it is:
Active Topics - active topics since your last visit. It will delete these once you leave.
Today's Topics - every post in the last 24 hours.

So if you leave and delete your active ones, the worst thing you have to do if go find them in the today's.

I can't speak much for Alex, but we couldn't afford to keep all the information we were before on my copy of this forum.

sorry to be an absolute pain but i dont think its quite working right

i just have new topics and todays topics at the top of my screen

is new topics the active topics?

new topics shows new threads and posts, and takes them off when i view them, much like the old active topics

and todays topics just lists everything

sorry to be such an ass, i just dont quite understand whats going on, is the list of every topic in the past 24 hours needed?

does it still show unread threads in red?

i understand a solution is needed to the old system as it wasnt very good in other things i also dont understand
