new job for me i think

i thought i found the ideal job when i came to work for local government 3 years ago, in 9 months time our department (5 people) and other department with approx 2000 people are all being outsourced, its pretty horrible working here at the moment theres no motivation and attitudes that stink not that i blame anyone for that its not nice to be told you may or maynot loose your job, quite alot are jumping ship at the moment and i can see why tbh, some of my work colligues are becoming unbearable to work with
so new CV time for me, may think about relocating as well, shame as i really do love what i do

Bugger, that is rotten just keeping you all stringing along with no indication of what they plan to do with you.

Could you look for the same job you do now, but with a different local authority perhaps?

yeah its a thought, would mean relocating so nice fresh start

what crack me up is i saved over 200k in the last 2 years on contractors fees after ive been paid

so what do they do ....... contract out my job

thats not good mate, I had the same thing happen to me when I was working for HP. It's all worked out for the best now, I'm sure it will with you too.

If you've been there only 3 years; you're not going to get any severance worth speaking of - so definately jump ship before it happens...

It doesn't sound like it's the dream job anymore tbh.

Similar-ish thing happened with the Eaton site I used to work at. When i started there in June 98, there was nearly 100 staff; technicians, engineers and CAD jockeys. When i left there was around 20 staff - now there is around 17 (including two secretarial staff).
Morale is at an all-time low; and the only reason no-one has jumped ship is because of the redundancy cheque (i'd have been sitting on around £17k by now - but there is no way i'd still be there....)

The country really has gone the the crapper. Annoyingly; I feel the USA is in a similar stage today as the UK was in the mid 70's... If they're wise - they'll realise this and do something about it. I have a sneaky feeling they wont - until it's too late....
