As i have DVD's on both UK and USA regions - I've just realised that whenever i swap region's; I'm reducing the amount of 'swaps' i have left (used two - down to one).

Can this be un-done in any way?

Is one option to purchase a cheap DVD writer when i'm next in the UK, and make sure I only play UK DVD's in that one - and US DVD's in the other? would that work?

Help me out in plain English please!*wink*

nope. but google your player model, there *may* be a firmware "update" for it.

that would work, very easy to add extra drives to a computer.

the other option is to "back up" your uk dvd's useing (for example) dvd shrink to us region. and only play the backups, but tis would require a uk region reader and us region writer.

another option is to buy a cheap dvd player in the us from a brand name like liteon and set it to uk region and only use it to play uk dvd's and keep the other one for burning / playing us dvd's !

Edit : - the "backing up" of your dvd's to the us egion would allow you to play your uk dvd's in any dvd player in your house, assumign there all US ofcource.

I'm guessing from the DVD Writer comment that this question is in reference to a PC.
Try the software from the following link:
http://www.inmatrix.com/files/dvdgenie_download.shtml
DVD Genie should allow you to reset the count for switching regions.
Alternatively you could use software such as "DVD Region Free" to allow watching of any regions DVDs, however such software is chargable where as DVD Genie is freeware.

Hope this helps.

Dave

I use DVD region killer, which is a free little utility that keeps your drive region free.

It tends to work better with earlier DVD drives, however.
