I´ve bougth 4 years ago a turbo lump to do my turbo mini.
I´m starting to rebuld de engine.
After removing my head i ve realized that i have a cooper s spring type assembly (one small spring inside the normal one) is this standart to the turbo?
If not can i assume that i still have the same turbo valves?
are the 1275 guide valves the same on all a+ engines?
(the reason that i ask this is because i am live in portugal metro turbo are rare and portuguese Rover cant supplie them)
Since i´m rebuliding the head should i fit new valves, hammers and springs?
The engine has a cable clutch the mini has a hidraulic one do i simply change the wok??
Sorry for all this questions but its my first rebulid

hi there venon*happy* i will try to answery your questions

in short:

well i can tell you that the metro turbo head has sodium cooled exhaust valves you can tell these by....

they have a bigger valve stem diameter than the inlet valves

you can run standard valves on the turbo motor but i would recommend using the minispares 214N stainless steel race valves on the exhaust side & if your money will stretch to it used these on the inlets as well.

its just a matter of ordering some valve guides to suit all the same sizes as the inlets.

right: the clutch well its just a matter of doing away with the cable type and on some metros & minis with the VERTRO clutch if you are going to use this clutch type, they used hydraulic setup instead of cable

not sure which year though! the metro or mini sported these on the VERTRO clutch.

This is what you need the clutch cover the small arm & the bracket which sits down the side of the clutch cover.

if you are going to put this engine in a mini

Thank you very much for your quick anwser.
from your reply i kown now that i have sodium cooled ex valve and that i have all the bits for the clutch. And i can get away with the guides from any 1275cc.
But how about my spring setup??

spring set up use the ones you have
but i would get a set of minispares springs

as these are fine for turbo applications in genrall!

of course some may disagree

if you are replacing the cam for say a phase 2 cam or whatever is you choice ?

subtract the EXTRA valve lift from the standard turbo cam lift & have the valve spring pockets machined out on the head to that extra depth.*wink*

that way you will not wear the whole valve train out quickley.

of course there is a shade more to it than that!

but the info above should help you to make you a very powerfull, usable road motor *smiley*

stick with the double valve springs

Oh! if you are using the sodium cooled ex valves please replace the inlets with minispares race valves

especialy if you are going to mod the ports out *wink*

no they will cut you new seats in the head.

the valves are up to you, if you use the original ones or ... replace these with minispares race valves like we talked about

dont for get to lap the new valves in, will you
