Hi
Is anyone running a Morspeed built turbo engine ?
I am just waiting for them to rebuild the lump from one of my MK2 Metro Turbos and have gone for the Turbo Booster spec one with a SC box, just wondered if anyone had any experience with them etc ?

Cheers

morspeed head and bottom end here, does its job perfectly.

one word of advice though, if he's quoted you 4 weeks then expect it in around 6....lol *wink*

I dropped it off late last year and Simon said Feb so I am expecting it late in March *wink*

Had my machining done by morspeed, excellent work without a doubt.

Like Bud said, be prepared to wait cos Simon has more work to do than a japanese POW

Well worth the wait

Hi,

I have recently installed a 1293cc Turbo Challenge engine, from Morspeed, in my MK 2 Metro Turbo.

Currently done 600 miles on the unit, so not really streching it as yet. Will get an indication of power output shortly once its rolling roaded. 218bhp @22psi has been done on this spec engine build, but I won't have my boost cranked up quite as high.
Feels like a strong engine, and has given me no trouble so far, apart from having to convert from cable to hydrualic clutch, which was a swine to locate the necassary parts.

All the best with the build, PM me if you have any questions- I'd like to chat with a fellow MK2 turbo owner.

Cheers, Tim *wink*

I've owned a MED built 1380cc MG Metro before my MK 2 Metro Turbo.
The Turbo Challenge engine is already putting my fully setup, Weber carb'd 1380 to shame, and I was only running 3psi.

Having changed the actuator to a 6psi unit yesterday, things are really perking up. The speed in first is incredible, the 2.9 diff gives it such long legs, 40 is a doodle without going past 5000rpm. Power seems to erupt at about 3500rpm, after that you really do get moving.

Overall, very pleased with the Morspeed engine so far. Only covered 700miles on it, so once 1000 have been reached I'll get it properly set up on the rollers.

Cheers, Tim *smiley*

so would buying a built engine from the likes of morspeed be cheaper than getting all the parts myself and building it my self?
or would i be best of getting all the bits for myself cost wise?
also would the morspeed turbo challange be good for everyday use with a t2 and a lower boost? or would it be a bit mad?
cheers

If you are confident on your ability to assemble the engine to a high standard, then just buy the engine in kit form from the likes of Morspeed / Avonbar.

You would save quite a bit of money in comparision over the ready built version, but then again you get what you pay for- a properly assembled unit built by an experienced hand.

If you have the tools/ experience / contacts, then you could complete the build yourself and save yourself some cash.

All the best, Tim *smiley*

Top geezer - got us out the sticky stuff a couple of weeks ago.
I was fitting one of his gearboxes to a mate's Mini and we noticed the last person to change the clutch had omitted to refit the keyway plate washer in the crank and flywheel. The flywheel slot was at 90 degrees to the one in the crank. After the surprise that the two had not welded to each other - ring Mini spares (thinking they are open till 5 on a Saturday) Have you got one - yes but we now close in 25 minutes at 2pm. So sent mate to Simon who kindly waited in for him and supplied good used washer..
