my mini has started to make a knocking sound its seems to only happen between 2000 and 3000 revs, and only when im in gear drving,
its fine in nuetral the gearbox feels fine when i change, so im lost any ideas ???????

if it only happens when coasting along id recon its the idle gear rattling about, if it happens under load then its probably a bottom end related problem. IMHO.

I had a similar thing and I rekon it was the head gasket as it had very minor sign's of blow by on 2-3
mine was fine when it was cold and not under load but as soon as it warmed up and was under load it appeard
boost definatly made a differnce on mine
but I don't know for sure as I changed the engine

I'd pop the head off before commiting to anything as I rekon I changed my engine for nothing *laughing*
but at least I know what's there now *laughing*
